June Favourites

June hasn't been an eventful month for me. In fact I've hardly blogged as I've been in so much nerve pain with left arm that even looking at my laptop sets it into spasm, so apologies for the lack of content. I also haven't been wearing a lot of makeup as I've lived in my pyjamas and only left the house for the odd appointment.

I've purchased quite a few new products lately but haven't put them to a good enough test to add to my faves but I can see into the future (aka July favourites) and tell you a few of them will no doubt feature there.

As you can see, the majority of the things I've loved this month have been hair care and that's because my hair is the only thing I've taken care of, or tried to take care of. So, let's get into this.

John Frieda Frizz Ease Forever Smooth Shampoo* | £7.99 | John Frieda |

John Frieda Frizz Ease Forever Smooth Conditioner* | £7.99 | John Frieda |

John Frieda Frizz Ease Extra Strength 6 Effects Serum* | £6.99 | John Frieda |

I've combined these three products as I use them together. I couldn't believe the difference in my hair the first time I washed it. I hadn't even got out of the shower and it felt like silk, it was so soft and I could run my fingers through it. It usually takes a while to detangle my hair after I've washed it as it's very thick and gets knotted easily, but using the Frizz Ease shampoo and conditioner left my hair so sleek. Before drying it, I added the serum and not only did it smell lovely, it soaked into my hair quickly. Once dry, my hair felt absolutely amazing, it was the softest I've ever felt it and I couldn't stop touching it.

The serum is said to 'eliminate frizz, humidity protection, heat protection, smooths, hydrates, tames.' With the weather being extremely hot last week these products did what they said they'd do, they kept the frizz at bay and held up against the humidity. The serum gave my hair enough hydration to make it shiny but not so much that it got greasy quickly.

I've been using these products for a month now and I will definitely be purchasing them when I run out as they're so good. A total must for the warmer months.

Leighton Denny Nail Polish - Bon Voyage* | £12 | Leighton Denny |

I get gel manicures once every 3-4 weeks as I can't do my own nails but my boyfriend often paints my toenails for me. I'm a bit of a pain when it comes to my nails as I always like them to be painted and since I can't do them myself, it's another job that falls to my boyfriend. Luckily he doesn't mind and has become quite good at it.

Bon Voyage is described as a 'dramatic creamy tangerine. A runway-inspired peachy pink adding that dose of sunshine to your nails.' Now, if you follow me on Instagram (go do it, here's a link *wink*) you'll know coral is one of my favourite colours. I would rock a coral lip everyday if I didn't have hundreds of other colours to get through. Bon Voyage is the perfect summer shade and it's been on my toes for at least six weeks with no chipping or cracking. It went on effortlessly and was at full opacity with two coats. It's such a pretty shade and I can't wait to try more. Highly recommend paying a little bit extra for these amazing nail varnishes.

OUAI Haircare Hair Oil* | £24 | Cult Beauty |

This hair oil is officially at holy grail status; not just for me but for me boyfriend too (although he probably has no idea what I'm talking about) as he's been loving it on his beard. You wouldn't believe we've both been using it so often as there looks like we've hardly touched it but I promise you this stuff gets hammered.

It smells absolutely incredible, but all OUAI products do. The packaging is simple and modern, which I love. And the product - omg it's so good. I was sceptical about using an oil in my hair, especially on my dry hair as I thought it was instantly going to make it greasy and I'd have to go through the hassle of washing it again, but it's so lightweight and doesn't weigh it down at all. It hydrates as well as smoothing any flyaway baby hairs; it nourishes the ends and helps keep frizz away. Not only that but it makes my hair so soft.

It can be used on damp or dry hair and I've tried it on both and love it either way. You only need the smallest of pumps and it'll coat large areas, which is a bonus with my hair.

My boyfriend has a medium-length, coarse beard and after applying this oil there's a noticeable difference. It feels so much softer and less wiry. He's tried various different oils and nothing has worked its magic like this. I have a feeling I'm going to have to get him his own bottle.

I didn't think I'd love another OUAI product as much as I love the Finishing Creme but this is easily my favourite. Now that Wave Spray needs to be mine.

What have you been loving in June?

  2. You're right! I used to completely hate my curly hair. About two years ago someone suggested I use hair mousse, so I just randomly picked the John Frieda Curl Reviver from the shop's shelf and I haven't looked back ever since. I use the shampoo and conditioner too. I know that mousse is mousse and there are probably others that could do the job too, but I have a special love for how they help my hair behave.
