5 Binge-Worthy Netflix Shows

You may or may not have noticed that I didn't post much last week. I had a pretty shitty few days the week before and decided I needed to give myself a break from my blog. I've been putting so much pressure on myself to write and schedule three posts a week that it was affecting my mood and my health. So, I had a few days off, spent a lot of them with Netflix, and decided what better topic to write about than the shows I've bingeing on.

First off, these are not my all-time favourite shows, that list would probably be quite some length and take a lot of memory power, which I can assure you I do not have right now (or ever). They're just some programmes I've spent the last few weeks enjoying and desperately need more episodes.

FYI, there's no spoilers.

  1. iZombie
My pal, Elle recommended iZombie after I finished ShadowHunters and I watched all (almost) three seasons in just over a week. I'm now up-to-date and have to wait for the next episode to be released. If you're into crime and the supernatural, you need this in your life.

Liv Moore (I friggin' love the wordplay with the names in this show) is a trainee doctor when she is encouraged by her fiance to attend a boat party. There's a zombie outbreak at the party and Liv gets scratched. She wakes up in a body-bag desperate to feed on brains. So she can have easy access to dead bodies, she takes up a job in the morgue. The brains she eats give her visions of the deceased persons life, as well as their abilities and characteristics. This makes her an excellent ally to police detective, Clive Babineaux who believes Liv is psychic, and together they solve the murders of the people who's brain Liv has devoured.

Liv isn't the only zombie and there's a parallel story line that involves other zombies and how they get their dinner. I bloody love iZombie, it's so quirky and so many of the main characters are extremely likeable. Watch it.

  2. RuPaul's Drag Race
My bestie introduced me to Drag Race about two years ago and I watched every season that was available in no time. If you've never seen it, firstly, what are you doing with your life, hunty? Secondly, go do it. And thirdly, bitch better werk. But seriously, if you've never seen it, it's basically America's Next Top Model for drag queens and five thousand times better. Each week queen Ru gives the ladies a challenge (nothing beats Snatch Game) and then they strut their stuff on the runway which is usually themed; Category is...

Each week two queens are up for elimination and have to compete in a lip-sync battle. Ru chooses who will sashay away and which lucky bitch gets to stay for another week.

It'll give you life, it's amazing. Forever bowing to Sharon Needles and Bianca Del Rio.

  3. Riverdale
If you're not a blogger and not on Twitter, you probably won't have seen all the Riverdale hype. I only started watching it after five episodes had aired and didn't realise it was a weekly release. The complete first season is up on Netflix now though as it ended last week.

The murder of Jason Blossom, the high school quarterback makes everyone in Riverdale a suspect. A group of friends set out on uncovering the truth whilst falling in love, discovering themselves and trying to stay on the right side of the law. Riverdale highlights how every family has secrets and what happens when those secrets are brought to light.

It's very much a teen crime/mystery with a cast of beautiful people, and a twist in every episode. I enjoyed it, it's worth a watch.

  4. Santa Clarita Diet
Again, Elle told me I had to watch this after I finished iZombie, and I finished it in less than a day. To be fair, there's only ten, half hour episodes so it wasn't like I spent a whole twenty-four hours bingeing it (I spent a whole six hours).

Sheila and her husband Joel are real estate agents but Sheila is also a zombie (yes, I have a thing for zombies, I didn't realise it until earlier today). She's only just turned and is learning how to control her impulses, what do eat, and how to find the right food. Joel, their daughter Abby, and next door neighbour kid Eric all know about Sheila's 'problem' and are set on finding a cure. Meanwhile, Sheila and Joel must discover a way of curbing Sheila's hunger.

Santa Clarita Diet is funny, it has an amazing cast, including Drew Barrymore and Timothy Olyphant, and is totally binge-worthy. I can't wait for the next season.

  5. ShadowHunters
I keep saying this to everyone I've spoken to about this show; it's so crap, it's good. Now, I know that's not the best review you'll ever see but there's something about it that keeps you hooked despite it being aimed at teens. The acting is okay, the dialogue slightly cliche and borderline cringe, but the story is pretty cool, and very much up my alley.

On her eighteenth birthday, Clary Fray discovers that she isn't a 'normal' art student but a Shadowhunter - a human born with angelic blood who protects humans from demons. Her mother had a spell cast on her when she was a child to keep her safe. However, when she can see Jace, Alec and Isabelle (more Shadowhunters), despite them using invisibility runes, her whole world changes.

This programme contains a few of my favourite things; vampires, werewolves and magic. The supernatural juxtaposed with action and adventure, I kinda love it. I know I shouldn't but I do.

What have you been watching recently?
