The Body Shop Matte Liquid Lipstick

If  you pop by here often you'll notice that I'm a huge liquid lipstick fan...actually let me rephrase that, I'm a huge fan of high-end liquid lipstick. Call me a snob but I've found the staying power, pigmentation and wear much more comfortable and all-round better quality with the more expensive brands. So, when I won a Twitter competition for all twelve of the new The Body Shop Matte Lip Liquids, I was extremely excited but didn't have high expectations...

Then I wore them and honestly, I'm more than impressed.

There's twelve colours in the line and there's a good range of nudes, brights and vampy shades. I've fallen in love with Sydney Amaryllis (red) and Windsor Rose (nude). They have really good pigmentation, and although I probably have to coat my lips twice to get an even colour, they layer nicely and the payoff is superb. I wouldn't necessarily say they dry down to a matte, there's a slight sheen but I don't mind that at all.

The consistency of the product is quite thick and mousse-like but they glide onto the lips effortlessly and dry fairly quickly. These lipsticks do have a scent, it's fruity, sweet and I quite like it - it's not overpowering or long-lasting.

Speaking of long-lasting, I'm so impressed by the wear of these lip liquids; I've not noticed any fading, bleeding or settling in any cracks on the lips. I wore Sydney Amaryllis for eight hours earlier this week and even after eating it had only faded slightly at the centre of the lips but hadn't transferred to my chin or smudged, which I find with some other lipsticks. I was shocked that there was no transfer after eating a particularly messy tea, especially as it is a red lipstick - I was half expecting to look like Dracula's bride. But nope, absolutely amazing staying power.

Wearing Sydney Amaryllis

I find TBS Lip Liquids really comfortable to wear and not at all drying; I've tried some that feel like they've sucked the moisture out of my whole body not just my lips but these are really comfy. Don't get me wrong, they're not hydrating and I always wear a lip balm underneath (as I do with all liquid lipsticks) but they are really easy to wear. As well as all the other positives, I really like the clean simple packaging, and the £6 price-tag is a massive bonus too.

If you're on the hunt for an affordable, bloody good liquid lipstick I highly suggest you go check these out. They're only £6 guys, I'm still in shock at how awesome they are for that price!
