OUAI Haircare

OUAI haircare is a brand created by celebrity hair stylist Jen Atkin. Jen is part of the Kardashian's glam squad and often featured on the sisters social media. She is the most in-demand stylist right now and going by the Kardashian's amazing hair, I can completely see why. The woman is a master. According to Jen, OUAI  (pronounced 'way') products are 'luxury, that are simple, affordable, and classic in a world full of loud noise.'

As soon as I heard about Jen Atkin's line, I knew I had to get some on my head. I'd heard amazing things about the dry shampoo and was trying to find a way to convince myself that £20 was worth it. Then an email popped into my inbox and I didn't have to worry anymore as a lovely company was sending me some bits to try. Praise the blogging gods.

OUAI Smooth Shampoo | £20 | Cult Beauty |

OUAI Smooth Conditioner | £20 | Cult Beauty |

I have a natural wave to my hair, nothing major or beachy (unfortunately) but let's say my straighteners are one of my closest friends. OUAI shampoo and conditioner really do what they say on the bottle and smooth out the wave, it's quite extraordinary how well they work. I'm not sure how well they'd smooth out curly hair but are marketed for those of you with curls. After I've dried my hair, I usually go right in with my straighteners but don't have to when I've used these two products.

The consistency of the shampoo is really thick and you only need the smallest amount to create a lather. I add the shampoo to my hair and quickly put my head under the shower to add more water as the texture is so thick, I find it needs the extra bit of water to actually foam. The conditioner is thick too but not quite as much, it runs through the hair easily and detangles any knots. I usually let it sit for a few minutes before rinsing.

Both the shampoo and conditioner smell amazingly, they have a variety of blends to make the scent so luxurious. My hair is left clean and really glossy, so much so that my boyfriend has commented on it a few times. I wash my hair every 4-5 days and find it doesn't get greasy quickly despite the shampoo and conditioner being very moisturising. I'm a fan, for sure.

OUAI Finishing Creme | £20 | Cult Beauty |

I was a little dubious about this product, I don't have dry hair and I didn't want to use a cream after I'd washed my hair that could potentially make it greasy - but luckily I didn't have that problem. The finishing creme adds moisture, shields each strand from pollutants and UV rays, and protects against any hot styling tools. The creme is very lightweight and great to add to dry ends or smooth any flyaway hairs. Again, it smells amazing. You'll notice I'll say this a lot, but it's the truth.

OUAI Treatment Masque | £25 | Cult Beauty |

Absolutely head over heels obsessed with these hair masks. I've not used a hair mask in so long because like I said, my hair isn't dry and adding moisture only makes my hair greasy quickly and I'm not about that life. You get a really generous amount of product in each sachet and the mask isn't too thick or slippery. It protects the hair whilst treating it. It's absolutely essential for a pamper session! You leave the mask on for 5-10 minutes and then rinse. Simple. And shocker - it smells fab.

OUAI Dry Shampoo | £20 | Cult Beauty |

This is the product I lusted over, wanted to try more than anything and heard amazing things about. Oil absorbing and no white cast - major positives and exactly what I want in a dry shampoo. It also adds the grit you want from a texturising spray, so it is kind of two products in one. However, if you're looking for something that you want to save your greasy mop and be able to go another day without washing, I don't think this is the product for you. It's really good on second day hair but anything after that I don't notice a difference; it's just not as good as some as my other cheaper dry shampoos. As a texturising spray, it's bloody marvellous; it lifts the roots and gives the hair some volume, I love it for that. But as a dry shampoo, it's not my favourite. Oh and guess what? It smells SO good!

Overall, I'm really impressed with OUAI. I love the packaging, it's really sleek and although simple, I think it looks expensive. I loved the majority of the products I tried and although the dry shampoo wasn't top marks, it's still awesome to add body to my hair. I'm not sure I can justify spending £40 on shampoo and conditioner but I need more!

Have you tried any OUAI products?
